Winter is the best time to see the glory of Indian Wildlife as that’s the season when several migratory birds populate the wetlands of India, swathes of grass fields and thick foliage of forest covers become witness to the majestic turf of Bengal Tigers, mysterious lives of Leopards, the clever minds of Indian Wolves & Red Fox ruling various terrains and the wide variety of Macaques captivating people through their presence. Yes, Winter is indeed the best time to unleash your Great Indian Wilderness experience, however, its the state of Gujarat has grabbed worldwide attention for carrying a unique mammal base. In our upcoming ‘Mammals of Gujarat Tour,’ we are going to explore the dry deciduous forest of Gir National Park that has become the last bastion of Asiatic Lion. We are also going to drive through Little Rann of Kutch, where the long stretches of salty marshes meet the horizon. Being a humble abode to many rare species, the place will leave you spellbound with the agile and long sprints of Asiatic Wildass. Perched in the Bhel region of Saurashtra, Velavadar National Park rose to fame for harboring Blackbucks. Considered to be the most gorgeous amongst the antelope family, Blackbuck is endemic to India and Velavadar is one of its prime hotspots to sight them.

    Day 1Arrival in Ahmedabad

    Today you will be arriving at Ahmedabad Airport, our representative will be present to welcome you. You will be transferred to your accommodation where you can rest for a while. In the evening you will be visiting Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park, a place that houses the fossilized remains and the petrified eggs of the dinosaurs. Spread over an area of about 400 hectares on the bank of Sabarmati river, It is considered to be the second largest hatchery of dinosaur eggs in the world . Overnight stay in Ahmedabad

    Day 2Ahmedabad

    Today early morning you will head towards Nal Sarovar Lake. A few kilometers away from Ahmedabad, the place is a haven for migratory species that have traveled 3500 kms from its nesting ground in Central Europe to spend winters. More than 200 species of birds are sighted at this lake. You will also visit Adalaj Stepwell which represents the fine architecture of medieval India and the historic Gandhi Ashram.     Day 3Ahmedabad to Velavadar

    Today after breakfast you will head towards Velavadar National Park also popularly dubbed as Blackbuck National Park. Enroute you will come across one of the prominent cities-Lothan they belong to the era of Indian Valley Civilisation. Around three hours drive from Ahmedabad, the Velavadar National park is the humble abode for Blackbuck antelope along with Indian wolf, Nilgai, Striped Hyenas, Jackal, and a wide variety of winged species.     Day 4Velavadar National Park

    Today you will explore the national park through Jeep Safari. Our expert naturalist will guide you through its grassland landscape hiding many rare and gorgeous birds and mammals. The place is also acknowledged as the highest roosting site of the harriers. Paving way through the thick clumps of grasses will make you run into the turf of Indian wolves who have become the ace grassland predator along with the marvelous spectacle of Blackbuck’s sprint.     Day 5Velavadar National Park to Sasan Gir

    Today you will head towards Sasan Gir- The Last Bastion of Asiatic Lions. By afternoon you will arrive at the national park and move towards your accommodation for some rest. In the evening you will explore the diverse avian life thriving in the forest such as Changeable-Hawk Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Endangered Bonelli’s Eagle, Indian Eagle Owl, Indian Pitta, Indian Grey Hornbill, etc. Overnight stay in Sasan Gir.

    Day 6Sasan Gir

    Today morning you will proceed for your first Lion Safari. Blessed with the vast savannahs and canopied trees, Gir National Park is considered to be the last and the only turf of Asiatic Lions. Besides being witness to the majestic gait of the Lions, you will also get wonderful sight of Asiatic Leopards, Mugger Crocodiles, Striped Hyenas, etc. Overnight stay in Sasan Gir.

    Day 7Sasan Gir to Jamnagar

    Today after breakfast you will head towards Jamnagar. Settled in the western coast of Gujarat, Jamnagar is a popular birding hotspot attracting birdwatchers from all corners of the globe. On arriving at the place you will proceed towards your accommodation for some rest. In the evening you will visit Lakhota Lake, one of the beautiful places in Jamnagar resting in the middle of the metro city. Overnight stay in Jamnagar.

    Day 8Jamnagar

    Today early morning you will head towards Khijadiya National Park. The national park is a beautiful melange of seasonal freshwater shallow lake, creeks, saltpans, inter-tidal mudflats, saline land and mangrove scrub inviting a wide range of winged species. The place is a breeding ground for It is also a major breeding ground of purple moorhen, little grebe, black-winged stilt, Coot and Pheasant-tailed Jacana. After Khijidiya National Park you will proceed towards Marine National Park. Being acknowledged as the first marine sanctuary of India, the place is an archipelago of 42 islands renowned for mangroves and coral reefs. The entire forest is thriving with various marine lives.     Day 9Jamnagar to Little Rann of Kutch

    Today after breakfast you will head towards Little Rann of Kutch. The endless stretches of salt marshes and rough terrains will bring you to the humble abode of many rare and endangered species. After arriving at the place you will rest in your accommodation for a while and in the evening you will explore the rich avian life dwelling in Little Rann of Kutch. Birds such as MacQueen’s bustard, Marsh harrier, Greater Hoopoe Lark, Demoiselle Cranes etc. Overnight stay in Little Rann of Kutch.

    Day 10Little Rann of Kutch

    Today morning you will head for your first jeep safari in the region. The unique landscape of the Little Rann of Kutch is one of the last surviving grounds for Asiatic Wildasses.     Day 11Departure
